Edgar, Charles “Chuck” Edward (18 July 1933 – 22 May 2021) With Flag
Charles “Chuck” Edward Edgar, age 87, of Owen, passed away May 22, 2021 at his
home.
Chuck was born July 18, 1933 in Peoria, IL to Harold and Letha (Young) Edgar. He
graduated from Rock Island High School in Illinois. Chuck was a Veteran of the
United States Army and served in Korea. He was united in marriage to Betty Lou
Seward on June 16, 1956 in Davenport, IA. Chuck worked as a Journeyman Lineman
for NSP for many years.
Chuck served as a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Owen-Withee Fire Dept for
many years. He was a member of the F. & A. M. Lodge 317 of Owen. Chuck also
enjoyed helping Travis at the Rural Sentinel on Tuesdays. He enjoyed leather
working and was a New York Yankees fan. Most importantly, Chuck was cherished by
his family and friends.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Betty; three children: Cynthia (Robert) Ruggles
of Owen, Scott Edgar of Owen, and Todd (Dana) of Rollins, MT; six grandchildren:
Hutch (Erin) Ruggles of Eau Claire, Aaron (Kristi) Ruggles of Owen, Jayce
Brooks-Edgar of Eau Claire, Kennedy Brooks-Edgar of Camp Fuji, Japan, Mariah
Rudd of Chippewa Falls and Heather (Daniel) Gustafson of Fayetteville, NC; and
six great-grandchildren: Hudsen, Berkley, Nixon, Easton, Jordy, and Emersyn. He
is further survived by his friend and caretaker, Mary Degenhardt, and his
brother-in-law, Jim Seward of Andalusia, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Letha; a daughter, Terri
Edgar; a brother, Darrell Edgar; a sister, Vivian Johnson and two
sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Mildred Seward.
A Masonic Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27 at the Masonic
Lodge (713 E. 3rd Street, Owen). Military Honors to follow provided by Lublin
American Legion Post #547, Owen American Legion Post #123 and the Owen-Withee
Vets Club. Family and friends are welcome from 1:00 p.m. until time of service
Thursday at the lodge.
