Wanke, John L. (18 Sep 1893 – 30 Oct 1976)
John Louis Wanke, aged 83, of Abbotsford, died on Saturday, October 30, 1976 at
5:38 p.m. at the Memorial Hospital of Taylor County, Medford. Services were held
on Tuesday, November 2, 1976, at 1:30 p.m. at Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in
Abbotsford, with the Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiating.
Burial services were held at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
Mr. Wanke was born on September 18, 1893 in Montevideo, Minnesota. On October 4,
1923 he married Hattie Pribbernow, in Jud, North Dakota, and they live in Jud
until 1929, when they moved to the Curtiss area. Later they farmed in the Town
of Green Grove.
In 1953 Mr. Wanke moved to Abbotsford, where he worked for Streckert
Manufacturing Company until he retired in 1958.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Hattie, one son, Orlyn Wanke of Milwaukee,
one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Jean) McGinley of Gary, Indiana, eight grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.
