Dux, Herman E. (13 June 1899 – 17 January 1978)
A retired Town of Weston farmer, Herman E. Dux, 78, was buried Friday in the
Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Globe. He was born and educated in the Town
of Pine Valley, farmed in the Town of Weston until his retirement in 1962. He
passed away suddenly at his Rt. 3 Neillsville home on Tuesday, January 17.
Afternoon funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the
Rev. Ralph Stuebs officiating. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, was
in charge of arrangements.
He was born to William and Bertha Dux on June 13, 1899. He married Elfrieda
Schoenherr, on September 14, 1921, who survives him. Also surviving are two
children, Louis, and Mrs. Gordon (Gladys) Thoma, both of Neillsville; one
brother, Robert, of Lancaster, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and
three brothers.
The congregation sang “Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me,” “Nearer MY God To
Thee” and “Asleep In Jesus.” With burial being made in the church cemetery,
pallbearers were Erwin Dux, Verlyn Dux, Norman Dux, Melvin Dux, Everett Dux and
Clarence Hagedorn.
Those attending the funeral included Mr./Mrs. Emmett G. McDonough and Mrs.
Michael Bracy and Michael, of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; Robert McDonough, Mt.
Prospect, Ill.; Daniel McDonough and Michael Brady and Michael, Chicago; Mrs.
Edwina Pemperton, Oregon; Mr./Mrs. Kurt Schoenherr, Mr./Mrs. Paul Schoenherr and
Mr./Mrs. Jerry Schoenherr, of Columbus; Mr./Mrs. Paul Schoenherr, Waterloo; Mrs.
Eddie Todorovich, Thermopolis, Wyo.; Bill Grap and Aimee and Mrs. Carl Grap,
Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. Clarence Hagedorn, Fond du Lac and Mr./Mrs. Wilmer Kroll and
Norman Dux, Wausau. Also attending were numerous friends of Loyal, Greenwood and
Neillsville.
Stan, I know being a cousin twice removed of Bernice and her family, they lived
several years in the Town of Pine Valley in Clark County, when Bernice and her
siblings were young and had attended the same country school as I did. Her Mom
and my Mom were cousins from Mom’s paternal side, the Kopp’s.
