Bemis, Julia M. (23 February 1909 – 4 February 1978)
Celebrating her 50th anniversary one week earlier, Mrs. Earl (Julia M.) Bemis,
68 passed away suddenly at her East Fifteenth Street, Neillsville home, Saturday
evening. Mrs. Bemis was born on February 23, 1909 in Jackson County to Frank and
Pauline (Garber) Zimmerman. She also received her education in that county.
After her marriage to Earl F. Bemis on January 23, 1928, the couple lived and
farmed in the Humbird area until 1944 when they moved to Neillsville. She was
employed by Weyerhauser in Marshfield for 19 years until retirement in 1971.
Surviving Mrs. Bemis are her husband and six daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Eileen)
Kroll, Mineral Point, Mrs. Kenneth (Lois) Kren, Neillsville, Mrs. Francis
Hansen, Granton, Mrs. Raymond (Marie) Brooks, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, Carol Corey,
Sparta, and Mrs. Fred (Beverly) Kaneller, Morris, Ill. She is also survived by
one brother, Earl Zimmerman, Humbird, 27 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one son, Darrell.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Neillsville United
Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was to be made in
the Town of Mentor Cemetery in Humbird.

Funeral services were held February 7 from the Neillsville United Church of
Christ for Mrs. Earl (Julia M.) Bemis, 68, Neillsville, who passed away suddenly
three days earlier, with Rev. Gary Clark, officiating. Musical selections
offered included “In The Garden” and “Abide With Me,” sung by Mrs. Mae Peters
and accompanied by Deon Spangler.
Pallbearers included Howard Corey, David Corey, Danny Horswill, Tom Kren, Tim
Kren, Harland Bemis, Bradley Kroll, Kevin Kroll and Jeff Hansen.
