Swenson, Mark (Scholarship - 1978)
Mark Swenson, Neillsville, is among 70 students majoring in paper science at
UW-Stevens Point sharing more than $7,000 in scholarships for the second
semester. The value of the scholarships, awarded each semester, ranges from $50
for freshmen to $200 for seniors. The recipients collectively achieved a 3.3
academic average in a curriculum emphasizing chemistry, mathematics and physics.
Swenson, son of Mr,. and Mrs. Calvin Swenson, Rt. 2 Neillsville, is receiving
$150. He is a freshman and a 1975 graduate of Neillsville High School.
During the past five years, the UW-Stevens Point Paper Science Foundation, Inc.,
has awarded almost $50,000 in scholarships to students of high scholastic
achievement and leadership potential.
Paper science graduates have professional career opportunities as process
engineers and scientists in the paper and allied industries, receiving job
offers and salaries among the highest of all areas in the UW-System, according
to the paper science faculty.
