Jacobson, Francis (7 March 1904 – 13 February 1978)
Funeral services were to be held this Thursday, February 16, for Francis
Jacobson, 73, of Rt. 1, Pittsville (Town of Sherwood) who died at St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield, Monday evening.
The Georgas-Gesche Funeral home, Neillsville, is in charge of arrangements and
was to be the site for the 1:30 p.m. services with the Rev. Paul Nelson
officiating, assisted by Dean Nelson and Ralph Schram. Burial will be in the
Town of Sherwood cemetery.
Born in the Town of Sherwood on March 7, 1904, Jacobson also received his
education in that area. He married Leta Lawrence on June 14, 1928, in the Town
of York ceremony. The couple farmed in the Sherwood area all of his life. He was
in the sphagnum moss business for many years, including distribution to
surrounding states.
Jacobson, who passed away after a lingering illness, he is survived by his wife,
Leta; one son, Merlin Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Annette)
Snedaker of Cheyenne, Wy., and Mrs. Dennis (Beverly) Boden of Alpena, Mi., two
sisters, Mrs. Rugna Freedlund and Mrs. George (Helen) Fluegel, both of Rockford,
Il., one brother, Harry, Neillsville; twelve grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Jacobson, Francis (7 March 1904 – 13 February 1978)
Funeral services were held in the afternoon of Thursday, February 16, at the
Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, for Francis Jacobson, 73, who died three days
earlier in Neillsville. The services were led by the Rev. Paul Nelson, Dean
Nelson and Ralph Schram, with burial in the Town of Sherwood Cemetery. Music was
furnished by Bernard Dennison, vocalist, who was accompanied by his wife.
Pallbearers were Randy, Ricky and Jeff Jacobson, Robert Thornton, John Freedlund
and Steve Snedaker.
Attending from out of the area were: Mr./Mrs. Dennis Bodern and family, Alpena,
Mi.; Rev./Mrs. Jack Snedaker and Steve, Cheyenne, Wy.; Sandra Snedaker, Colorado

Jacobson and Michelle, Wis. Rapids; and Mr./Mrs. Randall Jacobson and Jennifer,
DePere; Ricky Jacobson, Appleton; Mr./Mrs. H.I. Davis, Springfield, Or.;
Mr./Mrs. Donald Freedlund, Rockford, Il.; Mr./Mrs. Roy Eberhardt, Cedarburg;
Mr./Mrs. Herman Karlen, Monticello; and Mr./Mrs. Herman Pondhartz, and Mrs.
Velda Richardson, of Madison. Plus, numerous friends and relatives from Wis.
Rapids, Arpin, Pittsville, City Point, Granton, Loyal, Owen, Alma Center,
Waupaca, Marshfield, Neillsville and other state
