Aumann, Mr. and Mrs. Henry, Sr. (55th – 6 February 1978)

Over a half century of married life, in fact 55 years was the celebrated event when family and friends honored Henry and Agnes Aumann, Sr., Loyal, with a special mass and party, February 5.

The couple were married February 6, 1923, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Neillsville by the Rev. Edward Aumann, brother of Henry. Serving as attendants were Jacob Langreck and Mrs. Ray Noll, brother and sister of the bride.

Henry, who was born in 1895 in Jefferson, and Agnes in 1889 at St. Lucas, Iowa, farmed in the Neillsville area until 1943 when they purchased a farm north of Loyal. They retired from agriculture in 1956 and moved into Loyal. Henry now works for the county’s Green Thumb program and enjoys hunting and fishing. Agnes is fond of her garden, lawn and fancy work. Both enjoy playing cards.

The anniversary celebration included the Rev. Chester Osowski of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, offering a special mass of thanksgiving. John, Brian and Randy Aumann and Dennis Miller assisted the priest while Lori Aumann and Sandy Miller offered guitar elections during the religious service. The family later dined at a Loyal restaurant and then returned to the home of Henry Aumann, Jr., for an afternoon party.

The couple’s eight children all attended the event, as did the 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Listed as attending were Mr./Mrs. Clarence Aumann and family, Mr./Mrs. Irban Aumann and family, Mr./Mrs. Paul Ampe and Karen, Mr./Mrs. Henry Aumann, Jr., and Mr./Mrs. Ray Miller and family, all of Loyal; Mr./Mrs. Louis Aumann, Butler, Mr./Mrs. Art Petkovsek and Harry and Mr./Mrs. Jacob Susa, all of Greenwood; and Mr./Mrs. Pat Mrotek and family, Cadott.
