Yaniga, Antonia (22 December 1879 – 21 February 1978)

Mrs. Antonia Yaniga, 98, a former Greenwood resident, died Tuesday morning at the Marshfield Convalescent Home where she had resided since October 1, 1974.

The former Antonia Parizek was born December 22, 1879, in Leduc, Czechoslovakia. She came to the United States in 1900, settling in the Blue River and Muscoda areas. She was married to Joseph Suda, August 5, 1902. He died March 27, 1945. They farmed there until moving to Loyal and Greenwood areas. She married Martin Yaniga, April 27, 1946, He died in 1971. She was an honorary member of St. Mary’s Altar Society of Loyal.

Surviving her are four sons, Joseph Suda of Antioch, Ill., Anthony Suda of Greenwood, Vandy Suda of Gurnee, Ill., and Louis Perko of Lac du Flambeau, daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Agnes) Bargander of Loyal, one step-daughter, Mrs. Henry (Paula) Vollrath of Greenwood, 23 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister and one daughter.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Peter Leketas, pastor, officiated. Committal services were conducted by the rev. Laverne G. Meier, pastor of John the Baptist Catholic Church in Muscoda, and burial in St. John’s Cemetery there. Pallbearers were Theodore, James, Stanley and Charles Suda, Bernard and Edward Rueth. Mrs. Frank Wesley was the vocalist.
