Thorson, G. A. “Al” (30 Nov 1911 – 20 Dec 1976)

G. A. “All” Thorson, 65, a former resident of the Owen-Withee area, died at 10:25 a.m. Monday, December 20, 1976 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

He was born November 30, 1911 at Longwood, Clark County, a son of the late Alvin and Mattie (Erickson) Thorson. He graduated from Withee High School.

On May 18, 1937 Mr. Thorson married Agnes Madsen at Wausau, and after their marriage they lived in Withee, then Kenosha. In 1948 they moved to Fond du Lac, where Mr. Thorson was the manager of a Sherwin-Williams Paint Store until he retired in 1971.

After retirement, Mr. Thorson drove a Fond du Lac County Elderly Transport Service van. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Lodge #140 F & AM, a past president of the Exchange Club, and a member of the Church of Our Savior in Fond du Lac.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Joyce) Powers of Appleton and Miss June Thorson of Wisconsin Rapids; three grandchildren, Jeanne, Ronnie, and Kathy Powers of Appleton.

Surviving also are four brothers, Roy Thorson of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Orville Thorson, Annandale, Minn., Edward Thorson of Minneapolis and Gordon Thorson of Owen, Wisconsin. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 1976 at the Church of Our Savior, with the Rev. Gerald V. Goodrich officiating. Burial was held at the Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
