Dist. Tech. Honors Local Physicians (1978)
The service of 94 area physicians, including seven from Clark County, who
donated over 700 hours of instruction to Emergency Medical Technician
instruction were recognized this week by Norbert Wurtzel, director of District I
Technical Institute, Eau Claire.
In the Clark County group were Dr. James Connolly, Thorp; Drs. Myrna and Roberto
Casing, Stanley; and Neillsville physicians Cahit Ozturk, Anna Capati, Bahri
Gungor and N.R. Capati.
The doctors had donated their time since the program’s beginning in November
1975, now over 250 ambulance attendants have received training in thirteen
communities served by the school.
With classes offered at nine communities, including Stanley and Neillsville, the
doctors trained students in initial patient assessment, spina fractures, head
injuries, anatomy and physiology, emergency obstetrics, genitalia injuries,
wounds, burns, eye injuries, life threatening problems and other acute medical
problems. Dennis Theiler and Ernest Harper, two veteran emergency medical
technicians hired by the school, offered the basic instruction.
