Edward Brehm, 84, a pioneer in pure bred Holstein breeding in this area, died
January 8, 1972 at a Marshfield Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday
afternoon, with the Rev. Bervil Scott officiating, and burial was in the Colby
Memorial Cemetery.
He was born in the Town of Hull (Marathon Co.) and married the former Lena
Provinski in 1910. Receiving his education in the local schools, he was also a
graduate of the University of Wisconsin Farm Course. A charter member of the
Equity Coop Shipping Association, he was also active in farm organizations.
Brehm is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Miller (Bernice) of Los
Angeles and Mrs. Dobner (Kathleen) of Milwaukee; three sons, Melvin and Kenneth
of Colby, and Arthur of Beaver Dam; nineteen grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Alma Schmidt of Chciago, also survives.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Henry Swaboda, Edwin Gramman, Richard Goldschmidt, Dan Sazama,
Harold Ruppert and Morris Mantor.
