Daniel “Dan” L. Babich, age 69, of Abbotsford, passed away on Saturday, June 5,
2021, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield after a courageous 16-month battle
with Glioblastoma.
Dan was born on July 15, 1951, the son of Louis and Anna (Colombonie) Babich in
Chicago, IL. He graduated from Gorden Tech Catholic School in Chicago and earned
an Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics. Dan started his career out of high
school working for the Milwaukee Road Railroad. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic
for several years, then went on to work at Marshfield Door until they closed. He
retired after 30 years, selling insurance for Modern Woodmen of America.
On June 25, 1977, Dan was united in marriage to Mary Allmann at St. Mary
Catholic Church in Colby. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and the
railroad. He was known for the stories he told, and he enjoyed the time he spent
up North at Deer Camp. Most importantly, Dan cherished his family, especially
his grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary; two children: Scott (Beth) of
Colby and Nicole (Tim) Ottelien of Hewitt; five grandchildren: Landon, Norah,
Sullivan, Tayt and Iris. He is further survived by brothers-in-law,
sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
