Steinwand, Francis J. (1898 – 12 Jan 1972)
Francis J. Steinwand, a cheesemaker for many years, died Wednesday at his home
in Marshfield at age 73.
The funeral services were held Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby,
with the Rev. Francis Rushman officiating.. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Steinwand was born in the Town of Colby in 1898 and married the former Verena
Weix in Colby in 1919. The couple lived in Minocqua from 1965 to 1969, but spent
the past two years at Park View Apartment in Marshfield.
Surviving are his wife and six children; Mrs. Jack (Betty) Nadolney, Waukesha;
Mrs. Kenneth (Virginia) Bonar, Elmhurst, Ill., ; Mrs. Julius (Rosemary) Kademan,
Marshfield; Mrs. Jim (Suzanne) Lyons, Burbank, California; Mrs. George
(Kathleen) Hellmann, Redwood, Ill., and Pter Steinwand of Lake Tomahawk.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one sister,
Mrs. Walter (Mary) Mueller, Arizona and Holcomb, Wis., and two brothers, Joe and
Arnold, both of Colby.
A brother and sister preceded him in death.
