A car belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Salter was stolen shortly after 1:30
a.m., Saturday morning in front of Ray’s Market in Unity, where Mr. and Mrs.
Salter were visiting at the time.
The Marathon County authorities were notified of the theft at 2 a.m., and the
car was found in flames at 3:30 a.m. on a town road three miles northeast of
Spencer , according to a report by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.
Spencer firemen were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze, but the
1971 model was totally destroyed by the time they arrived. The authorities are
continuing their investigation. A spokesman reported they have several suspect
in mind, but no one has been taken into custody at the present time.
