Navy Senior Chief Personnelman Raymond J. Tauschek, son of Raymond P. and Ann T.
Tauschek, Greenwood, recently completed a six-month deployment in the western
Pacific.
He is serving as a crewmember aboard the combat store ship USS Mars, homeported
in Oakland, California. While deployed, his ship operated as a unit of the U.S.
Seventh Fleet.
During the cruise, his ship participated in several training exercises with
other Seventh Fleet units and those of allied nations. Additionally, he and his

Philippines.
The Mars is 581 feet long, displaces 16,500 tons and carries a crew of 430
