Grow, Edith L. (19 October 1887 – 4 December 1978)

A woman who was well-known in the Neillsville area and who was a resident of Clay Street for many years, Edith L. Grow, 91, passed away December 4 in Milwaukee. She had lived in Milwaukee since 1936.

Mrs. Grow was born on October 19, 1887, in Raymond, S.D., to Edward and Jane (Vining) Kerwin. In December of 1909, she married Harold Grow, of Neillsville, in Bozeman, Mont., ceremonies and the couple moved to Neillsville.

The couple had four children, Charles, who died in infancy: and Kathleen, Grace and Marion. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughters, Marion Buehner and Kathleen Witherspoon. The other daughter, Mrs. Louis (Grace) Rutowski, now lives in Milwaukee. Also surviving are five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the chapel of St. Mary’s Nursing Home, Milwaukee, where she had resided for the last five years. Burial was made in the Grown family plot in the Neillsville City Cemetery on December 7.
