Voigt, Esther B. (4 April 1915 – 13 December 1978)
Esther B. (Quicker) Voigt, who was born in the Town of Lynn April 4, 1915,
passed away recently in California. She was born to James and Louise (Steinbach)
Quicker.
On February 18, 1933, she married Mervin Voigt and the couple lived in
Neillsville and surrounding area until 1943. They then moved to San Diego,
California, returning to Neillsville. In 1952, they moved back to San Diego and
later to Pico Rivera, Calif. Mrs. Voigt suffered a stroke on Christmas Day, two
years ago. She was paralyzed in limb and voices, being admitted to Bell Gardens
Convalescent Center, Bells Gardens, Calif., where she passed away on December
13.
Survivors include her husband of Pico Rivera; a daughter, Mrs. Geo. (Betty)
Weitzel, Sr., Downey; a son, Wayne, Grants pass, Or.; ten grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild. Also, she leaves three brothers, Albert of El Cajon, Calif.,
Roland of Granton, and Hubert of Neillsville: three sisters, mrs. John (Hilda)
Barth of Chili, Mrs. William (Leah) Wolf of Marshfield and Irene Vanderwyst of
Granton; plus, a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and a
grandson.
On December 15, Pastor John C. Wetzel officiated at morning services in Christ
Lutheran Church, Downey, Calif. and afternoon services at the Greenwood Chapel,
San Diego, Calif., where interment was made. The Zrelak Family Mortuary, Downey
was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Pallbearers were grandsons and relatives, William, Bryan, and Boyd Sumner, Geo.
Weitzel Jr., Lee Keller and Ron Peterson.
Out of state visitors came from Alaska, Oregon, South Dakota and Utah.
