Miss Patricia Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Cook of McHenry, Ill., became
the bride of Woodrow Wiedenhoeft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wiedenhoeft, Colby,
at a candlelight service in the First United Methodist Church at McHenry, Ill.
on February 12, 1972. The Reverend Raymond White performed the ceremony.
Maid of Honor was Diane Cook, Chicago, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were
Cathy Allman, Seymour, Ill., Sue Martin, Racine, and Linda Laurence, McHenry,
all friends of the bride.
Best man was Bill Murray of Wauwatosa, a friend of the groom. The groomsmen were
Bill Doan, Milwaukee, Jerry Janzak, Woodstock, Ill., and Jim Melvin of Medford,
all friends of the groom. Ushers were Ray Cook, brother of the bride, and Dale
Tuttle, a friend of the bride and groom.
For her wedding the bride wore a winter white moray taffeta dress of Victorian
style with lace trimming. The floor length veil trimmed with lace that matched
the dress cascaded from the headpiece made of winter white moray taffeta and
lace. The bride carried a Bible decorated with miniature white carnations and
red sweetheart roses with trailing streamers and green ivy.
The bride’s attendants wore dresses also of Victorian style with the Maid of
Honor in wedgewood blue, and the bridesmaids in cranberry red. They carried
heart shaped bouquets made of red and white carnations, sweetheart roses with a
candle burning at the top. The bride’s dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses were
sewn by the bride’s mother.
Melody Ruth sang “Our Father”, “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Everything is
Beautiful,” accompanied by Mrs. John Lieghty, both of McHenry.
A centerpiece adorned the altar and candelabra in the church were decorated with
green fern.
A reception for two hundred guests was held in the Church Hall.
The groom is a 1970 graduate of UW-Whitewater and is a Business Education
teacher. The bride is a 1971 graduate of UW-Whitewater and is a Special
Education teacher at Marshfield.
