Schlinkert, Emma (29 July 1885 – 20 January 1979)

Mrs. Emma Schlinkert. 93, Rt 5, Neillsville, passed away in the Neillsville Memorial Home last Saturday, January 20, after a brief illness. The deceased was born on July 29, 1885, in the Town of Pine Valley to Henry and Rosina (Schwinter) Bieneck. She received her education in St. John’s and public schools and then worked for a few years in various jobs in Neillsville.

On August 22, 1906, she married William Schlinkert in Neillsville ceremonies. The couple then farmed in the Towns of Pine Valley and Levis. In 1960, her husband died, and she made her home with a son, Clarence, in Neillsville and again worked at various jobs in the city. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church, and Ladies Aid and the Pine Valley Homemakers Club.

Surviving are her two sons, William and Clarence, both of Neillsville; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death besides her husband, was one son Elmer; one daughter, Erna; two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were slated for this past Wednesday afternoon from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial was to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
