Holtzhausen, Alvin (16 Oct 1902 – 28 Apr 1972)
Alvin Holtzhausen, 69, businessman in Abbotsford for more than 25 years, died
Friday, April 28, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he was taken
Thursday evening after suffering a stroke at his home.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian
Church, Abbotsford, with the Rev. Keun Won Park officiating. Burial was in the
Abbotsford Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clarence Vircks, Ted Pflanzer, Bill Nelson, Bill Beil, Don
Kalepp and Jim Heindl. Mrs. Eugene Strathman was organist and Mrs. Gordon Knizet
soloist.
Masonic services were also conducted by Sherman Loos at 8 p.m. Sunday at the
Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford.
Mr. Holtzhausen was born in Colby on October 16, 1902. On June 12, 1935 he was
married in Minneapolis to Helen Weideman, who survives.
Mr. Holtzhausen received his education in the Colby schools and also attended
the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He lived in this area most of his life,
although he resided in Minneapolis from 1942 to 1946.
He was the owner and operator of Holtzhausen and Son, an electrical, plumbing
and heating fir. Mr. Holtzhausen was a former police chief and fire inspector in
Abbotsford, and was also a Clark County deputy.
A member of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Holtzhausen was for many
years an amateur “Ham” radio operator.
Survivors, besides his wife, include a daughter, Shirley, Wausau; a son, David,
Colby; two grandchildren and two sisters, Miss Erma Holtzhausen, Nashville,
Tenn., and Mrs. Spencer (Ethel) Wallace, Atlanta, Georgia.
