Wittlinger, Barbara Kay (15 Apr 1972)
The Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Milan, was the setting for the April 15, 1972
wedding ceremony of Miss Barbara Kay Wittlinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern
Wittlinger Sr. of Abbotsford, to Dennis Glen Blum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Blum
of Greenwood. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. David C. Schroeder. Mrs.
Orville Barkow Sr. was the organist and Clarence Barkow the soloist.
For her wedding the bride chose an A-line gown of all-over lace with a chapel
sweep train. The modified waistline was encircled with a narrow satin ribbon.
The bodice featured a mandarin collar and bishop sleeves with tiny button trim.
Her two-tier nylon illusion veil was secured to a forward headpiece of organza
and Venice lace petals, and loops with pearl trim were centered with two crystal
loops.
The bride carried a cascade bouquet of red roses encircle with eucharis lilies.
The miniature bride, Pamela Wittlinger, wore an identical dress and carried the
same flower arrangement.
Mrs. William Tesmer of Abbotsford served as matron of honor, and bridesmaids
were Judy Venzke, Athens, Mrs. Verlyn Wittlinger of Abbotsford, Mrs. Vern
Wittlinger Jr., Abbotsford, and Miss Janie Denzin, Athens.
They were attired in floral chiffon floor length print gowns of maize styled
with modified waistline, bishop sleeve, Peter Pan collard, and full, circular
skirts. Velvet ribbon and buttons trimmed the dresses. Their matching profile
styled headpieces were of nylon loops, Venice lace, with four-tiered veils. They
carried colonial bouquets of yellow carnations and white pompom mums.
Attending the groom as best man was William Tesmer of Abbotsford, and the
groomsmen were Ed Shong of Boyd, Verlyn Wittlinger, Abbotsford, Vern Wittlinger
Jr., Abbotsford, and Darrell Underwood of Colby. The Jr. ring bearer was William
Tesmer Jr.
A reception followed the ceremony, and a 4 p.m. supper was held at the Trianon
Ballroom. There was a wedding dance at 9 p.m.
The bride is a 1970 graduate of Abbotsford High School, and is employed in the
office of Francis Melvin.
The groom attended Owen-Withee High School and is employed at Land O’ Lakes.
The couple is making their home at Rt. 1, Abbotsford.
