Howard, Theodore W. “Ted” (31 January 1920 - 19 August 1996)

Theodore “Ted” W. Howard , 76, of Unity, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, at the House of the Dove Hospice Unit in Marshfield at noon.

Mr. Howard was born on Jan. 31, 1920, in Elgin, Iowa to Harvey Sr. and Eunice (Miller) Howard. As a young boy he moved with his parents to Wisconsin and received his education in Iowa and Wisconsin. He married Neva Boyer on March 10, 1945, in Neillsville. After their marriage he worked at the Unity Feed Company for several years. In 1956, he began employment at the Roddis Company in Marshfield, known today as the Weyerhaeuser Company. He retired in 1982. He and his family have made their home in Unity since 1947. In his retirement he remained living in Unity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping other people in the community.

He is survived by his wife Neva Howard of Unity, one daughter Colleen Howard of Marshfield, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four sisters, Leotta Murphy, Ellen Hansen and Lola (Jesse) Tomlinson, all of Neillsville, and Doris (Clarence) Nehlich of Eureka, S.D. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. Rev. David Ault, pastor will officiate the service. The organist will be Beth Krebsbach and soloist will be Carol Duvall.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville from 6–8 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday. The committal service will take place on Thursday at 2:45 p.m. at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Howard.
