Rowe, Mr. and Mrs. Milford (Golden – 31 May 1978)
Celebrating their golden wedding anniversary with an open house, Sunday, May 28,
were Milford and Irene Rowe, Rt. 1 Granton. The couple was married on May 31,
1928, in Neillsville by the Rev. Lambright. Vera Hales and the late Clarion
Counsell were their witnesses.
The Rowe family, consisting of a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Shirley) Ahlborn of
Minocqua, a son, Donald of Granton, their spouses and children all attended
services at the York United Methodist Church. Irene has been a pianist at the
church for several years.
The couple received flowers for the celebration with Irene’s being a white
orchid and Milford’s a gold carnation boutonniere, gifts from the grandchildren.
Milford was born August 30, 1902, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rowe. Irene was born
September 27, 1899, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Counsell. The couple are in good
health and still reside on the home farm with Milford assisting with some of the
field work. Irene is an active member of the women’s group of the York Center
church, the So & Sew Homemakers Club and keeps busy with housework and fancy
work.
