Recent Greenwood graduate Korina Johnson has earned second-place in the state
for the equine science proficiency award for FFA.
Proficiency awards are given to students who, through supervised agricultural
experiences (SAEs), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward
their future careers. They must fill out a detailed application explaining what
they have learned.
“The criteria are extensive, but it is based on a combination of number of hours
worked, skill levels and growth of skills attained, goal setting and
achievement, financial gain,” Greenwood advisor Loghan Amborn wrote in an email.
Johnson earned her award for her SAE on a local horse farm. She trained and
showed the horses and took care of the daily care and management of the animals’
health and wellness. She also performed facility and equipment maintenance.
Johnson will receive a gold pin and cash award and will be honored at the
Wisconsin FFA State Convention July 5-8.
