Dorchester Recreational Park was the scene of a Staab family reunion Sunday, May
28, 1972, the first reunion for descendants of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Staab and
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johann Staab, who came to this county and to the
Dorchester from Rotenburg, Germany in 1881. They settled on a farm about two and
one half miles west of Dorchester at that time. John Staab, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Staab, was the first white child to be born in Dorchester. He was the
father of Bernard and Edward Staab, who live at Dorchester now.
There were 63 persons present Sunday for a potluck dinner and afternoon lunch at
the park. Pictures and keepsakes of many years ago were displayed, and some of
the messages written in German were translated by Frank Gobernatz for the
younger generation present.

and Mrs. Richard Feeney and Gary, Waterford, Michigan; Ralph Feeney, Lake Orion,
Michigan; Mrs. Grace Thompson and Mrs. Winnie Thompson, Marlow, Okla.; Donald
Staab, Reinbeck, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hermanson and Janet, Brook, Indiana.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Staab and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Staab, Rochester, Minn.; Mr.
and Mrs. Mike Beidermann, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Don Beach, Hinckley, Minn.
Jerry Werner, Naperville, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Feeney, Marengo; Aaron Staab
and Mr. and Mrs. Pat McManar, Madison; Miss Phyllis Staab, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Poehnelt, Michelle and Brian, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Staab and Frank and
Miss Mary Ann Staab, Wausau.
Miss Karleen Staab, miss Joyce Staab, Kenneth Staab and Tom Berg, Marshfield;
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Alger and son, Lublin; Gary Will, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Jake
Staab and sons, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Malchow and daughter, Medford.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Staab and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Staab and family, and
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Staab, Dorchester.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Staab and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Alger were the committee in
charge of the reunion. Another reunion is planned for 1973, with Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Staab and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Malchow to be in charge.
