Roehl, Hattie (30 June 1895 – 1 June 1978)
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Hattie B. Roehl, 82, who passed
away at the Neillsville Memorial Home, June 1. She had been in failing health
for some time.
Hattie was born June 30, 1895, to Frank J. and Emily (Schoenherr) Zickert in
Watertown. She and her parents came to Clark County in 1901 and she was educated
in the Town of Weston and St. John’s Parochial School in Neillsville. She
married William G. Roehl, September 27, 1916, in a Neillsville ceremony and the
couple farmed in the Towns of Pine Valley and York before moving to Neillsville
in 1962. She was a member of St. John’s.
Surviving is a son, Clifford, Neillsville, a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Florence)
Embke, Neillsville, a sister, Mrs. Ella Schlinkert, eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, who passed away
January 2, 1977, two sons Wilbur and Harold, one brother and one sister.
The Monday funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Neillsville with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating.
Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements.

Services for Hattie B. Roehl, 82, were held June 5, from St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church, with Rev. Norman W. Lindloff, officiating, and burial was made
in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Offering vocal solos of “The Lord Is My
Shepherd” and “Asleep in Jesus” was Linda Krehmeyer, accompanied by Sharron
Nemitz. Serving as pallbearers were Leonard Drescher, Walter Saibold, Leo Roehl,
Franklin Zickert, Walter Wetzel and Raymond Wetzel. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral
home, Neillsville, was in charge of arrangements.
Numerous out of town friends and relatives attended the services including Ella
Schlinkert and Mrs. George Johnson, of Mt. Horeb; Mr./Mrs. William Wiesjahn,
Onalaska; Mr./Mrs. Marvin Heiman & Dale, Marshall; Mr./Mrs. Edgar Schoenherr,
Mr./Mrs. Oliver Schoenherr and Leona Wagoner, Watertown; Mr./Mrs. Clarence
Schulz, Reeseville; Mr./Mrs. Herbert Hinkelmann, Loyal; Mr./Mrs. Alvin Roehl and
Gerald Nelson, Spencer; Mrs. Darrell Roehl, Mr./Mrs. Leo Roehl & Elroy, Chili;
Walter Roehl, Granton; and Mr./Mrs. Harvey Heck and Mr./Mrs. Ervin Heck, of
Greenwood.
