Gutman, Arnold C. (18 April 1894 – 11 June 1978)
A retired Neillsville businessman, Arnold C. Gustman, 84, of 1225 Johnson St.,
passed away Sunday at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Gustman was born in Sheboygan, April 18, 1894, to August and Augusta (Keidith)
Gustman. He received his education in Cadott and then worked as a carpenter and
in a garage in that community. Gustman was a World War I veteran and was a
member of the Haugen-Richmond American Legion Post, No. 73.
After his marriage to Caroline Bleskachek in Waukegan, Ill., on August 22, 1926,
the couple moved to Neillsville where he worked for the Welch Chevrolet Garage
until he purchased the Jack Sprat Store, which he operated for several years. He
also sold real estate for Allied Realty and had several other businesses in the
community prior to retiring in 1960.
Surviving is his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Helen Sedlacek of Chippewa Falls and
Mrs. Otto (Mina) Grewe of Jim Falls; and one brother, Albert, Valley Center,
Calif. Preceding him in death were two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m. from the
Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. Fr. Chester Osowski was to officiate
with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Gustman, Arnold C. (18 April 1894 – 11 June 1978)
Funeral services for Arnold C. Gustman, 84, were held June 14, from the
Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Chester Osowski officiated at
the service, with burial made in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Neillsville.
Music was furnished by LaNiece Schiesel. Serving as pallbearers were Elmer
Georgas, Martin Feuerstein, Seward Dean, Paul Volkman, Arne Matheson and Frank
Svetlik.
