Karnitz, Mr. and Mrs. Thone (Golden - 1978)

Mr. and Mrs. Thone Karnitz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 24. An open house was held at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. kenneth Karnitz, 213 East Fourth St., from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The couple was married at the home of the bride’s (Selma’s) parents in Greenwood by Pastor O.J. Vriesen. Mrs. Jake Wallace, sister of Thone, and Arno Miller, cousin of Selma, were attendants at the couple’s wedding. Both were present for the open house.

Mrs. Herbert Horn and Mrs. Jerold Richmond, both nieces of Selma, made and decorated the cake for the occasion. The couple wore corsages of yellow roses and white carnations.

Mrs. Karnitz is employed as an aide at the Neillsville Memorial Home. Mr. Karnitz is a retired farmer. They live on Rt. 3 Neillsville. Both enjoy good health.

Mr. and Mrs. Karnitz had two children, Mrs. Bernard (Lois) Smetana of Black River Falls and Kenneth of Neillsville. They also have seven grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Mark, Brian, and Beth Smetana, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Smetana, and Lynette Mueller and Kerry Karnitz, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Karnitz. They have one great grandchild, Kristin Karnitz, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Karnitz.

Out of state guests came from Lake Villa, and Northbrook, Ill.; Zionville, and Pittsboro, Ind.; and Scottsdale, Ariz. Also, many relatives and friends from the Neillsville and surrounding area attended.
