Freedlund, Donna A. (16 March 1915 – 24 June 1978)
A Town of Sherwood’s citizen and wife of a Clark County Board of Supervisor’s
member, Mrs. Norman (Donna A.) Freedlund, passed away Satruday evening, June 24,
at her home.
Donna Freedlund, 68, of Rt. 1 Pittsville, died after a bout with cancer. She had
served as chairman of the Town of Sherwood Cancer Crusade for a number of years.
Born March 16, 1915, to Gordon and Viola (Brown) Davis in the Town of Fremont,
Mrs. Freedlund married Norman C. Freedlund on June 10, 1933, in Neillsville. The
couple began their Town of Sherwood farming at that time.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Sherwood, the church’s Ladies
Aid, of which she served as president and was secretary at the time of her
death, and the Sherwood Sewing and Birthday Club.
Mrs. Freedlund was to be buried, Tuesday, in the Town of Sherwood Cemetery after
1:30 p.m. services from St. Paul’s. The Rev. E.T. Keller was to officiate.
Surviving besides her husband are six sons, Mahlon of Milwaukee, Ronald, David
and Lowell, all of Pittsville, James of Vesper, and Dale of Tulsa, Ok., three
daughters, Mrs. Arlan (Harriett) Castner of Marshfield, Marlene Freedlund of
Wis. Rapids, and Wanda Freedlund of Pittsville. Also surviving are three
sisters, Mrs. Richard (Ione) Miller of Lakeland, Fl., Mrs. Charles (Doris)
Schwanebeck of Pittsville, and Mrs. Flossie Schmidtke of Granton, one brother,
Arleigh Davis, Verona, and eight grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a
son, Walter, one brother and one sister.
