Niedzwiecki, Francis Donald (8 August 1925 – 12 July 2021) With Flag

Francis Donald Niedzwiecki, 95, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, July 12, 2021, at Wissota Place Assisted Living-Chippewa Falls.

He was born on August 8, 1925, at the family farm near Thorp, to the late Jacob and Petronella (Jarocki) Niedzwiecki. Frank grew up attending St. Bernard’s Grade School and Thorp High School. After high school he enlisted in the US Army and served for approximately 23 years during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts working with artillery and later became a medic.

Frank returned to Wisconsin and retired in the Hayward area on Hub Lake until 2010. He enjoyed his pets Lassie and Fatcat and had a hummingbird feeder that always attracted many hummingbirds by his kitchen window. Frank enjoyed the peacefulness of retirement out at the lake. He loved to visit with his relatives and be a part of family. Frank was very interested in his Catholic faith especially through the Society of St. Pius, the 10th. He was an avid reader and enjoyed classical music. Frank was as “sharp as a tack” until death and his memories often fascinated his family.

As his health declined, Frank then lived in Neillsville, with Larry and Mary Hadzima, and later moved to Browerville, MN to live with Jane and Todd Steinmetz. In 2020, he moved to Chippewa Falls, to live at Wissota Place Assisted Living and was assisted by Patty and Tom McElroy. This was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic which was a difficult time for all in the world.

Frank is survived by his sister-in-law, Christine Niedzwiecki, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brothers and spouses: Mary (Walter) Chudy, Sarah Niedzwiecki, Leona (Paul) Hadzima, Julia (Paul) Kowieski, Rosalie (George) Klovas, Theresa (Ralph) Jacobazzi, Felix (Frances) Nied, Theophil (Laura) Nied, Jacob (Lucille) Niedzwiecki, and Michael Niedzwiecki.

A funeral mass will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley with Father John Young officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Cemetery-Stanley. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 9:30 until time of service.
