Gillard, Gladys M. (26 February 1902 – 8 July 1978)
Gladys M. Gillard, 76, a resident of the Neillsville Memorial Home, passed away
Saturday, July 8, at Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral
Home in Neillsville with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. D. E.
Sprague of the Neillsville Assembly of God Church, of which she was a member,
was to officiate.
Gladys Gillard was born February 26, 1902, in Neillsville, to Charles and Ida
may Southard Rose. After graduating from Neillsville High School, she worked in
the Neillsville area. She married Thomas A. “Dell” Gillard, on July 29, 1923, in
Neillsville. She later worked as a cook in area restaurants and had been a
resident of Memorial Home for the past 18 months.
Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. June LaPalm of Milwaukee, Mrs. Nathan
(Ethel) Riphenburg, and Mrs. Jake (Evylin) Fitzmaurice, both of Neillsville; one
son, Richard of Auburn, Wash., a sister-in-law, Georgia Rose, Lucerne, Calif.;
24 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, who passed away July 20, 1952, three
sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held July 11 for Mrs. Gladys M. Gillard, who passed away
in Neillsville on July 8. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was the site for the
services with the Rev. D.E. Sprague officiating. Burial was made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery after the 1:30 services.
Harold Schlinsog sang “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “In The Garden,” accompanied
by Mrs. L. Bezlyk. Serving as pallbearers were Jake Fitzmaurice, Nathan
Riphenburg, Harry Feil and Kenneth Benedict.
Those attending from out of town included Mr./Mrs. Harry Feil, Natalie and Bryan
and Mrs. June LaPalm, all of Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. Victor Moser, Freeport, Ill.,
Mr./Mrs. Gary Fischer Orangeville, Il., Mr./Mrs. Nathan Riphenburg, Jr., and
Ryan, Amery; Neva Porath, Black River Falls; Mrs. Bess Jensen, Cadott; Mrs.
Robert Canfield, Mrs. Frederick Elmhorst, Harold Schlinsog and LeOra Bezlyk, all
of Granton.
