CCCF Announces Scholar (Recipients - 2021)

The Clark County Community Foundation (CCCF) has announced the 21 recipients of its 2021 scholarship program. A total of 15 Clark County students have been awarded $300 scholarships each by the foundation. The scholarships are to be used for tuition or post-secondary educational expenses this fall.

The scholarship program is in its seventh year.

“The [Clark County] Community Scholarship Program was created to provide additional financial resources to eligible students living in Clark County who were pursuing an education beyond high school,” wrote Natalie Erpenbach, foundation president, in a July 7 press release.

In Neillsville, Skylar Drinka and Jonah Zoschke received the CCCF Scholarship. In Greenwood, Westen Schmitz received the scholarship. Loyal high School had five recipients, including Kayla Bremmer, Seth Genteman, Katlyn Lindner, Brody Miller and Matthew Szymanski. Makenzie Muraski of Granton High School also received the scholarship.

Other recipients throughout the county included Alexa Underwood of Colby High School; Ray Nelson of Owen-Withee High School; and Sidney Eichstadt, Brynn Luzinski and Reed Mertens of Thorp High School.

“The group of scholarship applicants was especially competitive this year. The grades, school activities, employment and community service efforts displayed by all of the applicants were extremely impressive,” a statement from the scholarship selection committees red. “The students, teachers, parents and communities of these students shou be very proud of their 2021 high school graduates. The CCCP Scholarship selection committees and the CCCF Board of Directors wish each of the scholarship applicants and recipients the very best as they further their education and embark on the next phase of their lives.”

The foundation also manages several endowed scholarships, including the Eric Pentz Memorial Scholarship, which is a $500 award to a Greenwood High School student. It is given in memory of Eric Pentz a 1994 Greenwood High School graduate.

This year’s recipient of the Eric Pentz Memorial Scholarship is Andrew Morrow.

Also awarded was the Harry and Esther King Memorial Scholarship. That was awarded to Brooke Magnus of Neillsville. The scholarship is for $300 and is in memory of Harry and Esther King, longtime area residents and strong advocates of agriculture and education.

Magnus also received the Teresa Johnson Memorial and Kourtland House LLC scholarships. The Teresa Johnson Memorial Scholarship is for $400 and is awarded to a Clark County student who “exhibits strong leadership qualities and community service efforts,” according to the press release. The Greenwood-based Kourtland House LLC Scholarship is awarded to seven area high school graduates. A total of $8,250 was distributed among the seven recipients.

“Owner Terri Opelt and Kourtland House continue their tradition of helping area graduates with their future educational expenses,” Erpenbach said.

Other Kourtland House Scholarship recipients included Schmitz and five other Greenwood graduates, namely Jonah Hinker, Korinna Johnson, Olivia Klabon and Rachel and Rylan Lindner.
