Jahnke, Elizabeth R. “Elsie” (13 August 1910 – 16 July 1978)

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, July 19, for Mrs. Werner (Elizabeth “Elsie” R.) Jahnke, 509 E. Fifth St., Neillsville, who passed away after a lingering illness at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Jahnke was born August 13, 1910, to August and Otelia Lautenbach in the Town of Grant. After receiving her education in that area, she worked in Milwaukee for a few years, then returned to the village of Granton where she served as a telephone operator for several years. After her marriage on October 4, 1952, to Werner Jahnke in Granton, the couple-moved to Chicago and later to Elgin, Ill. They returned to Neillsville two years ago.

Surviving is her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Paun, Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Geraldine Hoaglund of Sandwich, Ill.; one son, Robert L. Larson, Chicago; and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Richard (Florence) Wallace of Beloit; also four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Seif and Anita Lautenbach, both of Neillsville, Mrs. Anna Goodrich of Janesville, and Mrs. Arnold (Edna) Wickum of Edgerton; three brothers, Martin of Granton, Theodore of Milwaukee, and Robert of Marshfield; plus thirteen grandchildren. She was preceded ibn death by one sister, Nalda, and one brother, Arlo.

Funeral services were to be from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, with the Rev. Eldor Messerschmidt officiating. Burial was slated for the Windfall Cemetery in Granton.
