Boyson, J. Peter (? – 20 July 1978)
A well-known area television and radio personality, 1950’s Hollywood actor and
father of a former Neillsville resident was buried Monday in Eau Claire.
J. Peter Boyson, 56 passed away at his home Thursday, July 20, after a short
illness. Boyson had been in the radio, television and movie business for a
number of years and for the last eight years had been with EAU-TV and WAXX-FM.
Boyson’s son, Bob, resided in Neillsville for a number of years and worked in
radio here before moving on to a similar position in La Crosse.
J. Peter Boyson began his media employment in 1944 when he worked for WTMJ in
Milwaukee. He also worked for WCTN radio and television in Minneapolis and radio
and stations in Winona, Minn. And Rice Lake.
In the 1950’s, Boyson acted in several Hollywood movies, mostly westerns with
Gene Autry and Johnny Western. He also had a supporting role in the Jack Webb
movies, “Pete Kelly’s Blues.”
Boyson’s funeral was held from the Immaculate Conception Church, Eau Claire,
with the Prock Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
