Oehler, Floyd (24 Dec 1946 – 29 Jun 1972)

Floyd Oehler, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oehler, Town of Holton, was killed June 29, 1972 in the air collision between Air Wisconsin and North Central Airlines over Lake Winnebago, about four miles from Neenah. His body was recovered last Monday night.

Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford, with Rev. Keun Won Park officiating. Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Marina Funeral Home was in charge. Pallbearers were: Bruce Botterman, Augie Hediger, George Keith, Aurelio Gonzalez, Kenneth Gumz and Barry Keller.

Floyd Lee Oehler was born December 24, 1946 at Marshfield. He received his education in the Draper School in the Town of Holton, and was a 1965 graduate of Colby High School. He attended Black Hawk Vocational and Technical School at Janesville and received his commercial airplane and power plant license there. In April 1968 he received his commercial pilot license from Burnside-Ott Aviation Training Center.

Oehler was married October 3, 1971 at Las Vegas, Nevada to Cheryl Christianson. They have resided at Omro the past nine months. He was employed by Basler Airlines at Oshkosh.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford. He is survived by his widow, his parents, three brothers, Douglas, Kenneth and Kelly, one sister, Cheri, of the Town of Holton; his grandmother, Mrs. Irvin Oehler, Abbotsford; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Rose Jacobs, Marshfield.
