Miss Gloria Jean Schmitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Schmitt, Colby, became
the bride of Dale R. Hass, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hass, West Bend, in a 1
p.m. ceremony performed by the Rev. Frank Rushman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
in Colby.
The bride appear in a floor length gown of nylon organza and Venice lace with
matching cathedral length mantilla train veil. She carried a bouquet of red
roses and white carnations.
Maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Miss Janice Schmitt, Colby, and
bridesmaids were Mrs. Russell Guillaume, West Bend, sister of the bridegroom;
Mrs. Ronald Schmitt, Unity, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Linda Hass,
West Bend, sister of the bridegroom.
The bridal attendants were attired in lilac gowns that featured rich white lace
empire bodices with lace down the front. The skirts were of rayon chiffon over
crisp acetate taffeta. They carried baskets of lilac and white daisies.
Best man was Glen Hass, West Bend, brother of the groom, and groomsmen were
Russell Guillaume, West Bend, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Ronald Schmitt,
Unity, brother of the bride, and Gordon Schmitt, Colby, brother of the bride.
A reception and dinner for 250 guests were held at Memorial Hall in Dorchester.
The bride graduated from Colby High School in 1971 and is an IBM operator at
Fiji’s Inc., Marshfield. The bridegroom is a 1968 graduate of West Bend High
School and is employed by the Gehl Co., West Bend.
The couple is at home at Route 1, West Bend.
