Haskins, Blanche A. (3 April 1888 – 22 August 1978)

A woman, who served for 30 years as an assistant postmaster in Neillsville, Blanche A. Haskins, passed away Tuesday, August 22, after a short illness, in the Neillsville Memorial home.

Mrs. Haskins, 90, of 603 E. Fifth St., Neillsville, was buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery after funeral services Friday, August 25, from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. William Noble, pastor of the Neillsville United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Haskins was born on April 3, 1888, in Neillsville to Thomas and Laura (Head) Morris. After graduating from Neillsville High School, she attended teachers’ training in Neillsville and then taught school for several years in Clark County. She also worked in the Clark County Superintendent of School’s office. Following this she worked for the Neillsville post office as an assistant postmaster for 30 years.

She married George E. Haskins on January 30, 1931, in St. Cloud, Minn., ceremonies. He preceded her in death in 1948.

Besides her husband, those preceding her in death were two brothers, Claire and Lynn. She left no immediate survivors.

She was a member of the Neillsville United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid of the congregation.

Haskins, Blanche A. (1888 - 22 August 1978)

Funeral services were held for Blanche A. Haskins, 90, on August 25 from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The deceased passed away on August 22.

The Rev. William Noble, pastor of the Neillsville United Methodist Church, officiated at the early afternoon services, with burial following in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

“Have Thine Own Way, Lord” was offered as the vocal selection by Cora Noble, accompanied by Vanita Volkert.

Pallbearers were Elliot Warlum, Arlie Fritz, Albert Smith, John Mattson, Arnold Yankee and Walter Brown.

Those attending included Mrs. Dana (Iva Jake) Albee; Mrs. Gordon Mitchell; Murial Torrey and Mr./Mrs. Sig Leina, of Eau Claire; Verla Hales and Ruth Pietenpol of Granton; Mr./Mrs. Henry Zeck, Stevens Point; Sue Zeck, Wausau; and Mr./Mrs. Leslie Pinnell, San Diego, Calif.
