Meier, Sharon Kay (9 September 1978)

Saturday, September 9, was the chosen wedding day for Sharon Katy Meier and Robert James Wilsman, both of Neillsville. The couple are the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Meier, 1010 Prospect, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilsmann, Rt. 3 Neillsville.

The 2:00 p.m. wedding mass, officiated by the Rev. Joseph Henseler, took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. With the father of the bride presenting his daughter to the altar, the bridal party, relatives and guests heard Corinne Armitage, a friend of the bride, offer vocal selections, accompanied by Rita Stewart on the organ.

The bride chose a gown of silk organza, complete with portrait neckline, bodice and sleeves in Chantilly lace. The gown also featured a triple ruffle in front forming an apron effect in back. She chose a picture hat with a cathedral length veil and carried peach roses, baby’s breath, white carnations, yellow forget-me-nots and ivy.

Serving as matron of honor was Mrs. Michael Schoengarth, Neillsville, a sister of the bride. Joining her were Sherry Holt, Black River Falls, a cousin of the groom; Eileen Heiman, Neillsville, a friend of the bride; and Shelly Holt, Black River Falls, a cousin of the groom.

Two of the attendants wore dresses of peach and the others wore yellow floral polyester over satin gowns with high necklines, bishop sleeves and ruffled bottoms. The also wore picture hats with the veils formed in full bows. They each carried three long-stem red roses to match their yellow or peach gowns.

Serving as bestman was Randy Gault, who was joined by Michael Schoengarth, Daniel Miller and Steven Meier, a brother of the bride. Ushering were Jeff Marg and Curt Anding. All of the men were from Neillsville.

After a 4:30 p.m. dinner reception at the Wildcat Inn, Neillsville, the wedding party moved on to a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom.

The bride is a 1978 graduate of Neillsville High School and is employed as a teller at the Neillsville Bank. The groom, a 1976 graduate of the same school, is employed at Neillsville Co-op Transport. The couple planned on a South Dakota wedding trip.
