The 35th annual Merwin reunion was held at Oak Island Park on August 20, 1972 in Wausau, with about 85 friends and relatives in attendance.

After a buffet style lunch was served, President Ralph Remmel called the meeting to order. A decorated cake was placed at a special table where eight honored members of the Merwin family were seated. A prayer was offered for recently deceased members, Mrs. Angela Merwin of British Columbia and Verna Mae Holtz, daughter of Aaron and Loretta Merwin.

Heads of families gave reports on activities of their family for the past year. Mrs. Valerie Kundo reported on her family. Some of her family attended the reunion, include daughter Rosalie from Colorado.

There were three new babies born in the family the past years. Two couples, Howard and Grace Merwin and Ina and Tony Hennlich, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and two marriages were reported.

An election of officers was held, with the following results: President, Archie Merwin; vice president, Arvin Merwin; Treasurer, Ruth Merwin; and secretary, Jean Edwards.

The meeting next year will be held at Cherokee Park on August 19, 1973.
