Leichtnam, Edward (24 Jun 1885 – 1 Sep 1972)
Masonic services were held Monday, September 4, 1972 at 1:30 p.m. at the
Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, for Edward Leichtnam, 87, who died Friday,
September 1, 1972 at Memorial Hospital, Medford, following a lingering illness.
Pallbearers were Ken Anderson, Lowell Dorn, Mel Atzen, John Nelson, Ken Ingersol,
and Art Kumbier. Mrs. Eugene Strathman was organist with Mrs. Martin Schulz
singing “Rock of Ages” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Burial was made in the Abbotsford
Cemetery.
Mr. Leichtnam was born June 24, 1885 in rural Abbotsford and received his
education in the Abbotsford schools. He was married to the former Rose
Tischendorf October 11, 1911 in Dorchester. He had farmed in the town of
Mayville until 1934, when he came to Abbotsford.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 298 of Abbotsford.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Arthur, Abbotsford; one
daughter, Mrs. Earl (Alice) Prochnow of Athens; seven grandchildren; fourteen
great-grandchildren and one brother, Albert, Rothschild.
He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and five sisters.
