Lautenbach, Louie (8 October 1900 – 12 September 1978)

Passing away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, after a lingering illness, September 12, was Louie G. Lautenbach, 77, of 709 Grand Ave., Neillsville. He was active for a number of years in the Town of Levis government.

Lautenbach was born on October 8, 1900, in the Town of Grant to Otto and Rosa Riedel Lautenbach. After receiving his education in that area, he farmed in the Town of Grant for a few years and then married Martha Opelt, April 26, 1922, in a Granton ceremony. The couple then farmed in the Town of Levis until 1960. Besides serving on the Town of Levis board for 16 years, Lautenbach worked as a janitor for the Pine View School. They moved into Neillsville in 1973.

Surviving besides his wife in one son, Leroy, Nekoosa; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Schultz and Mrs. Fred (Laura) Wall, both of Neillsville; and Mrs. Harry (Hilda) Kuehn of Granton, one brother, Victor, Granton; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was one brother.

Funeral services were to be held Saturday, September 16, from Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville with the Rev. Gary Clark, pastor of the Neillsville United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was to be made in the Dells Dam Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville.
