Patricia Mantik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Mantik of rural Abbotsford, has begun a two-year tour of duty with MEDICO, a Service of CARE.

Miss Mantik, a registered nurse, will spend the next few weeks in Mexico learning Spanish as an aid to her work in the Dominican Republic, the country to which she has been assigned.

In a month, she will go to Santo Domingo to work as a pediatric nurse at the Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital. Besides working on the pediatric wards, she will work with Dominican nurses teaching and supervising students assigned by the Ministry of Health to a course in pediatric nursing.

Miss Mantik is a graduate of Abbotsford High School and received her nursing diploma from Mercy School of Nursing, Oshkosh. For the past two years, she had been working at Metropolitan Medical Center - Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis.
