Greaser, Violet Marie (11 Feb 1912 – 16 Sep 1972)
Mrs. George Greaser, 60, Dorchester, died Saturday, September 16, 1972 at her
home after a lingering illness. Funeral services were Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St.
Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, with the Rev. Gerald Schuh officiating.
Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. The Maurina Funeral Home was in
charge. Pallbearers were: Alvin Meyer, LeRoy Engel, Clarence Klimple, Max
Kronschnabl, Donald Seidel, and Clifford Herman.
The former Violet Marie Skerbeck was born February 11, 1912 at Dorchester. Her
parents were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Skerbeck. She received her education in the
parochial school at Dorchester. At the early age of 8 to 10 years, she was an
acrobat and contortionist.
From 1920 to 1932, she worked with theaters and grandstand shows. On April 29,
1939 she was married to George Greaser, and from then until 1950 she worked with
the Skerbeck Amusement Co. and other carnival shows.
From 1950 to 1957 she and her husband had their own show, the Greaser Amusement
Co., and she also helped her husband in his roller skating business. She was a
member of St. Louis Church and the Rosary-Altar Society, and former member of
the American Legion Auxiliary. The couple retired in 1957 and moved into
Dorchester.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Smith (Beverly); one
sister, Miss Pauline Skerbeck, and seven grandchildren, all living in
Dorchester.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
