Apfelbeck, Ernest (27 Jan 1897 – 24 Sep 1972)
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic
Church, Abbotsford, for Ernest M. Apfelbeck, 75, 607 Sycamore St., Abbotsford,
who died at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Marshfield Convalescent Center.
The Rev. Louis Dietrich, associate pastor of St. Mary’s Colby, officiated, with
burial in the Colby Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Apfelbeck, Andrew
Apfelbeck, Leo Apfelbeck Jr., Dale Apfelbeck, Carlton Pecher and Donald Pecher.
Mr. Apfelbeck was born January 27, 1897 in Colby. On June 17, 1924 he married
Bertha Pecher at Wuerzburg. He received his education at Riverside School and
St. Mary’s, Colby.
He farmed in the town of Hull (Marathon Co.) until 1959, when he and his wife
moved to Abbotsford. Mr. Apfelbeck was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic
Church.
Survivors, besides his wife, include three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Betty) Hein,
Shawano; Mrs. Edward (Lorraine) Rindt, Stetsonville, and Mrs. David (Virginia)
Cook, Evansville, Indiana. Five grandchildren also survive.
Other survivors include four brothers, Carl, Leo, Ben and Albert Apfelbeck, all
of Colby, and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Thorn and Mrs. Mathilda Schraufnagel, also
of Colby.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
