One hundred and sixty people from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois greeted Mrs.
Elizabeth “ma” Stelzel, a former resident of Abbotsford, at the Crystal Palace
Bateman, Chippewa Falls, in honor of her eightieth birthday on September 10.
1972.
The party, given by her children, Mrs. William (Verna) Bates of Chippewa Falls,
Gerald of Farmington, Minnesota and Leonard of Minneapolis, included a buffet
supper for 155 people. Music for dancing was provided by two nieces, Mrs. Dennis
Tischendorf and Mrs. Cliff Wetterau, both of Dorchester.
Guests attended from Chippewa Falls, Boyd, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Medford,
Athens, Wausau, Manitowish, Laona, Wauwatosa, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Madison, New
Richmond, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, and West Salem;
Minnesota cities of Winona, Owatonna, Farmington, Bloomington, St. Louis Park,
Golden Valley, Minneapolis, Waconia, Elk River and from Elgin, Illinois.
Among the many gifts, money and cards, were congratulatory messages from
President Richard Nixon, Congressman Alvin O’Konski and State Senator Bruce
Peloquin.
Mrs. Stelzel has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
