Al Gurtner went out with a bang in his last year competing at the Wisconsin State Fair’s meat auction. Scott Decker and Gurtner worked together to represent Ray’s Market, and the pair took home three awards, the largest-ever haul for Ray’s in a single year. The two took second for their prime rib strips, missed second by one point for its bone-in ham submission, and took third in the smoked brat category. The meat was auctioned off, with the proceeds going to raise money for the state’s 4-H programs.
