Bladl, Carl (12 December 1900 – 15 October 1978)

A man known in the Granton community as a painter, school bus driver and longtime chief of the Granton Volunteer Fire Department passed away Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Dead is Carl Bladl, 78, who was to be buried Tuesday morning after funeral services from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili. The Rev. Lawrence Berger was to officiate with burial in the parish cemetery.

Bladl was born December 12, 1900, in Neillsville. He received his education in the Lindsay School. On May 2, 1939, he married Garnett Boggs in Pittsville ceremonies. The couple moved to Granton, and he began his profession of painting, later driving school bus and serving as fire department head. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.

Bladl is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Steinbach and Mrs. Dale (Joanne) Wesenberg, both of Granton, one son, Richard, California, nine grandchildren, one brother, Paul of Owen, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Zahradka, Granton. Preceding him in death were two grandsons and one sister.

Pallbearers for the services included Richard Eibergen, Ross Downer, Wilber Fields, David Lavey, Melvin Koplitz and Ivan Ewing. Organist was Jeanette Steiner.
