Swenson, Mark (Award - 1978)
Mark Swenson, Neillsville, a senior paper science major at UW-Stevens Point, is
the recipient of a $500 Lake States TAPPI Technical Achievement Award.
The annual award from the Technical Association of pulp and paper Industry is
given to the senior student maintaining the highest scholastic rank. Mark has
achieved a grade point academic average of 3.3 at the UW-Stevens Point.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Swenson, Rt. 2 Neillsville, Mark received $200 of
the scholarship for the fall semester and will receive $300 next semester. He is
a 1975 graduate of Neillsville High School.
Mark was among more than 50 UW-Stevens Point paper science majors honored
recently during the annual meeting and awards banquet of the UW-Stevens Point
Paper Science Foundation.
The scholarship recipients collectively achieved a grade point academic average
of 3.0 or better, in a curriculum emphasizing chemistry, mathematics and
physics.
The Paper Science Foundation furthers the study of pulp and paper science at
UW-Stevens Point by providing scholarships to incoming freshmen and promising
students enrolled in the program. It also provides additional financial support
to the paper science department.
