Gumz, Charles J. (28 Apr 1889 – 19 Nov 1972)

Charles J. Gumz, Dorchester, was found dead in his home Sunday by his son Harold of rural Athens. Robert Lulloff, Clark County Coroner, determined the cause of death to natural causes.

The funeral was held Wednesday, November 24, 1972 at St. Peter’s Lutehran Church, with Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating. Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Maurina Funeral Home was in charge.

Mr. Gumz was born April 28, 1889 at Watertown, Michigan. He was married in 1914 to Ella Niemuth. He farmed near Milan from 1910 to 1945. His wife died January 17, 1959. He has lived in the village of Dorchester the past 27 years.

He is survived by one son, Harold, Route 2, Athens; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Remilda) Mueller, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Walenta, Sussex; one brother, Otto Gumz, living in California; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
