Ecke, Henry (17 Jun 1886 – 23 Nov 1972)
Henry Ecke, 86, formerly of Dorchester, died Thursday November 23, 1972 at 11:15
a.m. at Bethel Convalescent Center at Arpin, where he had been a resident for
the past four years. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Peace United
Church of Christ at Dorchester, with Rev. Milton Petzold officiating. Burial was
in Dorchester Memorial North (Peace) Cemetery. Maurina Funeral Home was in
charge. Pallbearers were grandsons: Lanny and Eddie Voss, Dennis and Larry
Dering, and Louis and Daniel Ecke.
Henry Ecke was born June 17, 1886 at Abrams in Oconto County. He married at
Curtiss on May 28, 1908 to Clara Janing. She died on September 24, 1967. Mr.
Ecke was employed by Roddis Plywood at Marshfield for twelve years, and then
farmed in the Curtiss area from 1931 to 1952. He lived at Dorchester from 1942
until 1967, and moved to Spencer, where he lived for one year before going to
the home at Arpin.
He is survived by two sons, Harland Ecke, Spencer, and Levi Ecke, Sheboygan; two
daughters, Mrs. Louis (Verna) Dering, Spencer, and Mrs. Ed (Mildred) Voss, R. 1,
Abbotsford; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
